Gilbert Carlisle

Gilbert A. Carlisle, age 82, of Warsaw, passed away at Center for Hospice in Mishawaka on September 15, 2026. He was born on March 23, 1944, to James and Sara (Hayward) Carlisle in Pontiac MI. He married Gayle (Erickson) Carlisle in Howell, MI in 2010.

Gilbert lived a life marked by dedication to learning, skilled work, and devotion to his family. He was a 1962 graduate of Pontiac Northern High School and went on to receive both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the technical school for General Motors. His commitment to education helped shape a career of purpose and accomplishment.

Gilbert worked as a Design Engineer for General Motors, a role that reflected both his training and his talents. His professional life was grounded in knowledge, discipline, and the steady pursuit of excellence.

Gilbert will be remembered by those who knew and loved him most. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Carlisle, his beloved children; Kelly (Dave) Bullock and Todd Carlisle, and his stepdaughter: Lisa (Eric) Kainer, who was instrumental in his life and care. May his memory bring comfort to his family and remain a lasting source of pride and love in the years ahead.
