Gerald D. Konkle, lifetime resident of Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw at the age of 84. Known to most as Gary, he was born on December 14, 1938, in Warsaw to the late Wilson and Fawn Konkle (Himes).
Gary was an Army veteran who proudly served from September 1958 through February 1962. After his years in the Army, he married Donna Shepherd on October 19, 1963. Together, they had three children. Gary worked in maintenance for many companies in the Kosciusko area before retiring at Home City Ice.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Gary found joy in various hobbies and interests including golf and shuffleboard. He truly enjoyed playing card games, especially poker. He loved to play with his family, even during his stay at the nursing home. Gary also enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Cubs, although he was NOT a Bears fan. Along with sports, Gary also found excitement in watching war and westerns.
Gary leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories for his friends and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Konkle of Warsaw; daughter, Michele (Robert) Heath of Etna Green; son, Jeffrey Konkle; grandchildren, Cassandra, Keryn, Matthew, Jayden, Ian, and Zachary; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Konkle; brothers, Sylvan, Thomas and Ronald Konkle; and sister, Sandra Belcher.
