George H. Elenbaas passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023 at he age of 95.
Mr. Elenbaas was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Henny Elizabeth Elenbaas (nee DeKoster) on October 12, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, and his sister, Sonja van Buuren of Green Valley, AZ. George is also survived by his three children: Lisa (Rick) Morris, Ron (Evelyn) Elenbaas, and Tricia Robertson; four grandchildren: Christian Elenbaas (Carly Owen), Corinne (Jason) Blair, Michele (Mike) Fiwek and Michael (Katie) Robertson; and by four great-grandchildren; Ryan, Samuel and Claudia Fiwek, and Titus Robertson. He is further survived by his four stepchildren: Clifford Boyer, Rob Boyer, Cam Boyer, Jennifer Beechy, and their children and grandchildren.
George was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and, after WWII, he moved to the Netherlands to study electrical engineering. In Delft, he met his wife, Henny DeKoster. They married in 1953 and immigrated to the United States with their first two children in February of 1957 with the sponsorship of the Plymouth United Church of Christ in Goshen, IN. In 1979, he formed Mercury Switches, Inc. and later Industrial Control Products, Inc. in Elkhart, IN. He proudly employed many at his two businesses until closing in 2008.
On February 22, 2003, he married Dolores J. Hubbard.
Services will be at Titus Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse with visitation on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 9 to 11a.m. A Life Celebration will take place later in the day with Services beginning at 2p.m. in the funeral home.
