Genevieve (Gee) J. (Yant) Metzger age 94, peacefully passed away on May 1, 2025 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Genevieve was born on July 7, 1930 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Millard and Violet Yant. She was the first cesarean baby to be born in Ft. Wayne by Dr. Elston. Gee’s family moved from Collins, IN to Claypool, IN in 1932. Millard Yant was a farmer that grew potatoes, onions, and mint. Gee and her brothers Wayne and Ed helped out on the farm while growing up. Gee graduated from Claypool High School in 1948. From there, Gee attended Indiana Central College where she studied business.
After college, Gee married the love of her life, Ronald L. Metzger, on June 7, 1953 in Claypool. Their union created two sons Rod (Ann) Metzger of Claypool, and Blaine (Mary) Metzger of Racine, WI and Naples, FL. Grandchildren Jeff (Randi Muniz) Metzger of Denver, CO and Kara (Mike) Ohmstead of Kenosha, WI. Great grandchildren Charlotte Ohmstead and Jack Ohmstead. Three step grandsons Matt (Mary) Thacker and great grandchildren Grant Thacker of Leesburg, IN and Olivia Thacker of Warsaw, IN Brad (Jennie) Thacker and great grandsons Andrew and Brody of Greenwood, IN and Mike (April Haycox) Thacker and great grandson Thane of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and one very special bonus daughter, Mary Anderson, of Warsaw.
Gee was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church for 90 years. Recently she attended The Good Shepherd Church in Winona Lake, IN.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her parents Millard and Violet Yant, and older brother Wayne Yant. She is survived by her younger brother, Ed Yant of Sheridan, IN.
A special Thank You to all family, friends, caregivers, and hospice nurses who helped provide comfort to Gee.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery led by Pastors Glenn Hall and Eric Sass.
