Fred Ewert

July 9, 1950 — January 24, 2024

Warsaw

Fred Ewert, a hardworking and dedicated man passed away on January 24, 2024 in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was 73 years old.

Fred was born on July 9, 1950, in Warsaw to Frederick Ewert and Betty Jean Caywood Ewert Zitterbart. Fred was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School, completing his education in 1969. Most remember him for his imposing stature but he had a gentle demeanor and good sense of humor, if you got to know him.  Fred was truly a bear of a man —physically tall and strong yet kind and compassionate.

Professionally, Fred spent more than 43 years with R.R. Donnelley and Sons. He knew how to do many things in the plant but spent much of his career in the Bindery, from where he retired. More personally he enjoyed spending time with his family and pursuing various hobbies. Among his interests were fishing trips both locally and to Michigan and trying his luck at the casino from time to time. A lifelong sports fan, Fred supported Notre Dame football, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chicago Bears and Iowa Women's Basketball.

Fred was married to Linda Parker on April 5, 1987, together they shared more than 36 years - Linda survives at home in Warsaw. He was proud of their three sons: Eric Ewert (wife, Shanna) of Warsaw, Brodie Ewert of Warsaw, and Frederick Ryan Ewert of Indianapolis and had a huge heart for his six grandchildren—Wylan, Neko, Azel, Bali, Iris, and Evan. He was also survived by his only sister, Cindy Ewert of Fort Wayne; step-mother, Janine Ewert of Wisconsin; nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in passing by his parents, Frederick Ewert and Betty Jean Zitterbart, by his grandparents and his brother-in-law, Larry Parker.

Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with care of Fred and his family. The family is grieving privately; no services are planned at this time. To leave a written condolence, visit www.TitusFuneralHome.com
