Evelyn J. Bowling, 67, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 3:02 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on February 19, 1943 in Narvel, KY to James Elmer & Eva V. (Shelton) Marcum.
She attended Mt. Summit High School and was married on June 19, 1961 in New Castle, IN to Joseph E. “Joe” Bowling who survives. She moved to Syracuse 49 years ago from New Castle and was employed at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster for 32 years as the head of housekeeping.
She attended the Syracuse Baptist Church in Syracuse and was a member of the former Hi Neighbors Club in Syracuse.
She is survived by:
Husband – Joe Bowling of Syracuse
2 Daughters – Mrs. Mike (Tammy) Bickel of Syracuse & Mrs. Mark (Donna) Bowling-Scott of Syracuse
1 Son – Tim (wife, Donna) Bowling of Syracuse, IN
2 Grand – Timothy (fiance, Karly Wallen) Bowling & Joshua Bickel
1 Gt. Granddaughter – Anna Leigh
2 Brothers – Howard J. (wife, Win Ellen) Marcum of Newark, OH & Randall H. Marcum of New Castle
She was preceded by her parents and an infant brother – Clarence Marcum.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Merv. Swarzentruber of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequests may be given to Impact 28 c/o Epworth Forest Camp, North Webster, IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
