Estle M. Sylvester, of Pierceton, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 90. Born to Ora and Crystal (Songer) Sylvester on October 13, 1934, in Orestes, Indiana, Estle was known for his kind and gentle nature, his patience, and his ability to bring joy to those around him with his lighthearted sense of humor. A true conversationalist, he had a natural ability to connect with others; he had the remarkable gift of making people laugh and feel welcomed, never knowing a stranger.

Estle dedicated eight years of his life to service in the National Guard stationed at Fort Dix, and he served six months in the Army before receiving an honorable discharge to care for his ailing father after he had suffered a stroke. His commitment to family and service set a profound example for those who knew him.

In addition to his military service, Estle was a man of many talents and interests. He was a gifted painter, known for his special designs that captured the beauty of the world around him. A passionate lover of nature, he found inspiration in God's creations and cherished daily moments spent reading the Bible and enjoyed the great outdoors. Estle was also a diehard fan of Whitko Sports, exhibiting enthusiasm for his local teams.

He embraced a variety of hobbies that demonstrated his creativity and adventurous spirit. A talented rock sculptor, he hand-carved intricate objects and animals from stones, showcasing his artistic flair. He was an avid hunter of arrowheads and Native American artifacts, which illustrated his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Estle found much joy in the company of his two dogs, Teddy and Lady, frequently taking them for walks while enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Family was central to Estle's life. He took great joy in writing poems that expressed his heartfelt sentiments and in sharing moments with those closest to him. Estle will be deeply missed by his children, Kim Potter and Tim (Stacy) Sylvester; his grandchildren, Jace, Jalen, Payton, Austin (Makyla), and Micaela; and his great-grandchildren, Owen and Halle. He also leaves behind his sisters, Rosi (Lee) Trimmer and Virginia Penn, who will hold his memory close to their hearts. Estle was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Barbara, in 2016, as well as his brothers, Gene and Perry Sylvester, and sister, Geneva Leap.
