Erma Atkins, age 84, of Warsaw, passed away in her residence on December 20, 2025. She was born on November 6, 1941 to Elmer and Vera Peters in Goodland, Kansas. She married Clarence Atkins on July 2, 1960 in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
For many years, Erma worked at Owen's Supermarket and retired from Biomet. Outside of her professional life, Erma was a woman of varied interests and passions. She found joy reading the Bible to find scriptures, bowling in her earlier years, and was a huge fan of sprint car racing, faithfully supporting her husband and sons, who participated in the sport for numerous years. She had a love for most sports, which at the top of her list was NASCAR/(Kyle Larson), the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks and Notre Dame. Additionally, she had a passion for gardening, landscaping, cooking and baking. Through so many years, her home was always filled with family and friends, where no one was missing out on her home cooked meals.
Erma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her children: Sandy Atkins, Sheila (Greg) Anderson, Renee Atkins, Kevin (Krista) Atkins, and Sheri (Matt) Rapp. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Steven Dunnuck, Tabitha Chadwick, Joshua Dunnuck, Brandon Carpenter, Austin Atkins, Alyssa Atkins, Shana Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Taylor Shepherd, Courtney Shepherd, Kaden Atkins, Kinsey Atkins, Trevor DeLaCruz, and Trent Rapp. In addition, she cherished her twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.
She is also survived by her siblings Phyllis Zweygardt, Roger Peters, Vickie Engel, Rod Peters, Rick Peters, Randy Peters.
Erma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence, who passed in 2013, and her son Bimbo Atkins, who left this world in 2014. Along with parents and siblings Larry Peters, Ken Peters, Terry Peters, Karen Winter.
A Life Celebration Visitation to honor Erma's life will be held at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street Warsaw, Indiana. With visitation scheduled for December 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Her funeral will be held on December 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
