Effie E. Hickman, 98, of North Webster, IN passed away at 11:52 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, IN. She was born on March 6, 1912 in Shipshewana, IN to Delbert E. and Blanche (Kreighbaum) Hill.
She attended Jefferson Township Schools in Elkhart Co, IN. She was married on October 29, 1932 in Warsaw, IN to Orville F. Wagner who preceded her on January 20, 1989. She then married on April 5, 1994 in Warsaw, IN to E. Dale Hickman who preceded her on November 24, 2000. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for Penn Controls in Goshen and Boris- Smoler Dress Shop in Elkhart.
She moved to the Syracuse / North Webster area in 1994 from Elkhart where she had lived for 60 years. She was a member of North Webster Church of the Brethren & Lakeland Kiwanis Club of North Webster. She was a former member and past president of VFW Auxiliary #985 in Goshen; Barbee Conservation Club; & Barbee Hoosier Club. She was a former member of the Home Extension Club in North Webster & the North Webster Church of God.
She is survived by:
2 Daughters – Edna M. Lawson of Leesburg & Mrs. Raymond (Betty L.) Stander of Dunkirk, IN
2 Sons – Paul L. (wife, Sally) Wagner of Elkhart & Arthur L. (wife, Elaine) Wagner of Granger
9 Grand, 5 Step Grand, 15 Gt. Grand, 12 Step Gt. Grand, 7 Gt. Gt. Grand, & 9 Step Gt. Gt. Grandchildren

1 Brother-John Lorene (wife, Klara) Hill of North Webster, IN
She was preceded by her parents, daughter - Ruby Jean Wagner, grandson - David Lawson, 2 sisters – Edna Hill and Bertha Wolfe, & 4 brothers – Walter Leroy, Robert Lamar, Edward Lawrence, and Raymond Edgar Hill.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy of the North Webster Church of God & Pastor Bob Wyman of the North Webster Church of the Brethren officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Prairie Street Cemetery, South Prairie St. Elkhart IN.

Memorial bequests may be made to Riley’s Children Hospital, 700 Barnhill Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202 or to the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
