May 9, 1960 — July 6, 2022

Douglas Smith Sr., of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at Parkview Randallia on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 62.

Born in McDowell, Kentucky on May 9, 1960, he was the son of Arthur and Henrietta Smith. After high school, Douglas served in the Navy and National Guard. On August 3, 1980, he was united in marriage to Maria W. Alsisto and spent nearly 42 years together. After working as a machine operator for 25 years, he retired from Dalton Foundry.

A very selfless person, Douglas was always willing to help those who needed it. He also loved to joke around with friends and family. His smile lit up the room. Douglas also enjoyed playing computer games and watching tv shows and movies, for which he loved to share spoilers.

Along with his wife Maria, those who survive with his memories to cherish are his children, Jonathan W. Smith, Dean Smith, and Douglas Smith Jr.; his grandchildren, Adrian, Kyle, Maelynn, Liam Kinlee, and Layni; sisters, Kathleen (John) Slone, Edwina (Jim) Patrick, and Naoma Foreman; and brothers, Bud (Dawn) Smith and Mack (Ann) Smith. He is further survived by many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur Olie Smith.
