Doris Rackin

Doris E. Rackin, of Winona Lake, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the age of 95.

Born in Redlands, California on June 18, 1927, she was the daughter of David A. and Gladys L. Smith (Dobbs). She married Bernard Rackin on August 4,1976 and they spent twelve years together before his passing in 1988. Doris supported her family by working as a bookkeeper for most of her career. She spent most of her life in California until 1995 when she moved to Winona Lake, calling it her new home.

Doris was a strong woman, although she did not want people to know it. She spent her life dedicated to her children and strived to ensure they were taken care of. Along with her children, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Doris also enjoyed reading and was very involved with missionaries. She truly loved her Lord and is now at peace in Heaven.

Along with her children, Nancy Lake, Jeanne (Mark) Via and William “Bill” (Linda) Wossum, she is further survived by her honorary daughter, Gaylene Lloyd; grandchildren, Melissa Pierce, James Page, Bonnie (Joshua) Fox, Brian (Todd) Via, Beck Via, Jennifer (Dan) Scherer, David (Eun Kyung) Wossum, and Amy (Shane Muldoon) Wossum; great grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Lake, Ashley (Kirt) Eash, Lance (Jennifer) Pierce, Gwendolyn Page, Melanie Page, Sydney (Jayson) Bailey, Emily Swallow, Lea Wossum, Liam Wossum and Madison Spratlin; great great grandchildren, Remington Lake, Samuel Eash, Lance Pierce, Braelynn Pierce and Ava Erichsen; and brother, David (Sue) Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; and siblings, Anna Lee Asendorf, Jacqueline Root, and O. Edwin Smith.

Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the care of Doris. Her family is grieving privately with no services scheduled at this time.
