Desmond “Joe” Joseph Conlan, age 91, a resident of the Timbercrest Retirement Home in North Manchester, Indiana passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on February 7, 2026.
He was born on July 28, 1934 in Corona, New York to Robert Joseph Conlan and Eileen Lindsay Conlan. After graduating in 1952 at Bishop-Laughlin High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. he joined the Army Signal Corp. in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.
On November 20, 1965 he married Ora Waverly Berry in Bayside, N.Y. They relocated to Winona Lake, Indiana in 1965.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Purdue School of Engineering in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as certification by the American Society for Quality Control. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Nu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Pi Gamma Chapter of the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society. He also achieved Black Belt status in the Mid West Tae Kwon-Do Federation and further certification as a D-3 Referee.
He was employed as a Technical Writer for various companies fulfilling classified Government assignments.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, a 2-year-old sister, brother Robert E. Conlan, and is survived by his wife, Ora Waverly (Berry) Conlan and brother Brian G. Conlan, Sunland, California.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, where a Memorial Mass will start at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Burial will follow to Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Donations in Joe’s honor may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Schools Building Fund for 7th and 8th Grade levels to be added to the present K-1 through 6th grades will be gratefully accepted. Make payable to Sacred Heart, (i.e. Building Fund), 125 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, Indiana 46580-3728.
