Denny Lee Alfrey, 68, of Syracuse, IN passed away 11:06 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his residence.  He was born on December 13, 1952 in Goshen, IN. He was raised by his grandparents.

He graduated in 1971 from Westview High School in Topeka and was married on May 5, 1973 in Goshen, IN to Rita P. Snyder who survives. He formerly employed at Lance’s Grocery in Syracuse in the Bakery. He grew up in Goshen and lived most of his life in Syracuse except for 10 years in Atlanta, GA

He is survived by:

Wife – Rita Alfrey of Syracuse

Daughter – Erin Smith of Syracuse

Son – David (Taylor) Alfrey of Ionia, MI

5 Grandchildren – Daryle Smith Jr., Brandon Smith, Noah Smith, Landon Alfrey, and Lacy Snyder

2 Gt. Granddaughters – Eliana & Maleah

Sister – Denise Crume of Goshen

Brother – David Matt (Michael Lacy) Alfrey of Blue Ridge, GA

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, son-in-law – Daryle Smith Sr., and special dogs – Moose, Maggie, and Bowie.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S 325 E, Pierceton, IN 46562 or New Hope Pet Rescue, 72555 Co Rd 29, Syracuse, IN 46567.
