Delbert W. Linn, age 89, of Cromwell, a devoted family man, respected community leader, and veteran, passed awaypeacefully surrounded by his family on April 28, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on August 25, 1936, in Cromwell, Indiana to Everett "Opey" and Lucy (Bailey) Linn. He married Lavone Hawn on December 26, 1959, at Sparta Christian Church in Kimmell, Indiana

Delbert proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, embodying the values of service and sacrifice that defined his generation. Following his military service, he devoted many years to Dana Weatherhead, retiring after a long and commendable career. His commitment extended far beyond his professional life; he was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and actively involved in the Scottish Rite. Additionally, Delbert was a Shriner and served his community as a member of the Cromwell Town Board, leaving a lasting impact through his civic engagement.

Family was the cornerstone of Delbert’s life. He shared a loving partnership with his wife, LaVone Linn of Cromwell. Together, they raised daughters Tammy (Glenn) Raber of Middlebury and Penny (Thurl) Stuck of Cromwell. Delbert’s pride and joy were his grandchildren: Mindy (Randy) Cripe of Middlebury, Dain Stuck of North Carolina, and Olivia (Alex Lynn) Stuck of Indianapolis, along with his great-grandchildren Remington and Nolan Cripe. He cherished spending time with them, finding joy and fulfillment in those precious moments that reinforced the ties of family across generations. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Everett “Opey” and Lucy (Bailey) Linn, and brothers Boyd Linn, Lloyd Linn, and Melvin Linn. Their memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Delbert W. Linn’s legacy is one of steadfast loyalty—to family, to community, and to country. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew him.
