David L. Williams

July 30, 1954 — November 20, 2023

Silver Lake

David "Dave" Williams, passed away on November 20, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born to Stanley R. and Mary E. "Toots" Williams on July 30, 1954 in Virginia.

Dave lived in Silver Lake his entire life in his family home until his passing. He attended Silver Lake Elementary School and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1972.

After completing his education, Dave began working at Kimble Glass. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Rene. They were married on March 20, 1980 in Fort Myers, FL. His grandmother, Florence held a special place in his heart, especially when she stood alongside Rene at their wedding while his great-uncle, Bob Beeson, proudly stood beside him.

Dave continued his career at DePuy Orthopedics in 1983, where he held many positions ranging from custodian to shipping clerk, all of which he excelled at.

While Dave excelled professionally, his true passion was sports, specifically baseball. For many years he coached t-ball and baseball with the Silver Lake Youth League and continued coaching in Warsaw at Boggs Industrial Park.

There was one place in particular that Dave loved to be, regardless of his age: Wrigley Field. Dave attended over 200 games at Wrigley Field, beginning when he was a young boy alongside his father. He continued that tradition by taking his son, Cody, to his first game in 1987, and his grandson Connor to his first game in 2017. He also took many of his friends and coworkers to their first games at Wrigley Field.

In addition to being a loving husband and a dedicated employee, Dave cherished his role as a father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Rene, he is survived by two sons, Jason (Lurena) Kerlin of Pierceton and Cody (Cate) Williams of Fort Wayne and three grandchildren: Connor, Olivia, and Owen Williams. He is also survived by a sister Jo Ann Richardson. His parents; brother-in-law, Larry Richardson and grandparents all preceded him in passing.

Rene and the family would like to make special mention and to thank the following individuals for their continued friendship, even after Dave was forced to retire due to cancer: John & Moira O’Hara, Brian & Karen Bergen, Todd & Christa Shenefield, Brian & Jill DeBatty and his "work wife," Donna Fowerbaugh.
