Danny A. "Dan" Somers

Danny A. “Dan” Somers, 87, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:38 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1934 in Fort Wayne, IN to Forest & Jennie M. (Hevel) Somers.

He graduated from Northside High School in Fort Wayne & Indiana University in Fort Wayne and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on July 14, 1956 to Marie “Tiger” Johannsen who preceded him on April 20, 2018. He grew up in Fort Wayne and moved to the Syracuse area in 1974. He retired from Dana Corp in Syracuse after 30+ years, former owner / operator of Tiger’s Miniature Golf Course in Syracuse, and was a consultant for Danee, Inc. in Syracuse.

He was a member of the Mason Lodge in Fort Wayne and formerly attended the Church of God in North Webster.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Tammy Serafini of Syracuse

Daughter-in-law – Michelle Somers of North Webster

5 Grandchildren – Alicia Catron, Forest (Alisha) Somers, Heather (Josh) Tooley, Sasha (John Toschlog) Somers, and Brenden Somers

10 Gt. Grandchildren – Brooke, Hunter, Savahanna, Carter, Ryker, Kaiden, Autumn, Gabriel, Jaxon, and Amelia

1 Gt. Gt. Grandson – Levi

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son – Danny Somers.

Visitation will be from 4:00 –6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. A masonic service will be at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Myron Drent officiating. Military service by the Syracuse American Legion will follow funeral services. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN. Private burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.
