Constance "Connie" Johanna Novak (Gadomski) of Leesburg, Indiana (formerly of Kankakee, Illinois) was joyfully ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the age of 90. Born on August 31, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, she is the daughter of Walter and Lucille Gadomski (Tomaszewski).
Connie was a proud graduate of Lourdes Catholic High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1953. She also completed 1 year of college. She worked at Thornton Community College in South Holland, Illinois, now known as South Suburban College for 30 years in various administrative positions while raising 4 children on her own. She was a fiercely independent woman. In her younger days, she was an adventurous spirit. She was always eager to explore new places often guided by her love of maps and keen sense of direction. She would load up her Taurus station wagon with her precious pups, Alaska, Barney and Cisco and hit the road.
Above all else, Connie's heartfelt passion for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. She attended church and prayed fervently for her children and grandchildren planting seeds along the way. She was a Patriot. Her love of God and Country was evident in her life.
Unbenounced to most, she was a talented artist who painted several beautiful works of art. Her smile was precious. It especially showed when she was asked if she wanted ice cream. There wasn't a flavor she didn't like!
Connie leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her son, Glenn (Patricia) Novak; her daughter and caregiver Ginger (Jerry) Exo, known as "Grammie" to her grandchildren, James Talsma, Joshua Talsma, Kyle Novak, Tarah (Jason) Waks, Steven Novak, Matthew Novak, and Justine Novak and her great-grandchildren Rhyan Marden, Cameron Waks and Julian Waks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucille; her sons Kenny Novak (Rose Schmitz) and Danny Novak (Karen Paxton); her brothers, Arthur Gadomski, who gave his life in service during World War II as part of the United States Marine Corps; Edward Gadomski; and her sister, Virginia Bermes (Gadomski). She also shared her life with cherished pets, including dogs, Alaska, Barney, Cisco, Abbey, Sugar, Trixie and Jackson. Also, her cats Tom and Little Joe. She had such a heart for animals.
Our hearts are hurting, but we know that she is safe in Heaven.
