Carson Shepherd, of Claypool, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Chateau Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Fort Wayne, just one day before reaching his 76th birthday. He was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on July 5, 1950, the son of John and Mary Shepherd (Ousley).
He was a graduate of Warsaw High School, earning his diploma in 1970. Soon after, he embarked on a career at RR Donnelley, working as a binding technician. Through determination and hard work, Carson enjoyed working at the company until his retirement in 2012.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Carson expressed himself through a lifelong love of music. He was gifted on both guitar and piano. His passions also led him under the hood of many cars throughout the years; known as a true gearhead. He also had an interest in computers. Those who knew Carson were drawn to his dry sense of humor, though quiet, he always made his family laugh.
Carson is survived by his children: Eli (Alissha) Shepherd of Warsaw, Brian Shepherd of Fort Wayne, and Kristie (Steve) Osbeck of Warsaw; 8 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Bess Blue of Warsaw and Brenda (Stan) Ratzliff of Clovis, California, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, John Shepherd, his mother, Mary Shepherd, and two brothers.
