Carolyn J. Barrus

Carolyn J. Barrus, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully to be with her Lord at Grace Village in Winona Lake on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born in Wabash, IN, on March 9, 1948, to Harry and Mary Pauline (Rice) Smith.
 
Carolyn touched the lives of many with her dedication and hard work. Described as a tough woman and a fighter, Carolyn overcame Breast Cancer with unwavering strength and courage. Her resilience and positive spirit inspired all who knew her.
 
Carolyn was known for her wonderful sense of humor and love for life. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Whether she was curling up with a good book and a bowl of popcorn, enjoying the warmth of a campfire, or showering affection on her beloved dog, Carolyn's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt.
 
Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be cherished by her surviving family: her children, Tom (Angie) Barrus, Tony (Charlene) Barrus, and April (Shane) Swihart; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her beloved sister and best friend, Mary K. Fleck. She was preceded in death by her parents; half-sister, Jackie Fetter; half-brother, William Pence; and brother-in-law, Bill Fleck. 
 
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with Carolyn's care. A private burial at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to K21 Health Foundation, 1101 Park Ave, Winona Lake, IN 46590.
