Carol Swartz

September 1, 1965 — November 14, 2022

Syracuse

Carol R. (Windler) Swartz, age 57 of Syracuse and Carmel, passed away at her home on Lake Wawasee, surrounded with love from her family. She bravely battled glioblastoma with grace and dignity for the last two years.

Carol was born in Lafayette on September 1, 1965 to Howard and Eileen (Sondgerath) Windler. She grew up on the family farm in Fowler, Indiana, and graduated from Benton Central High School in 1983. Carol earned her bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Technology from Purdue University, and went on to spend more than thirty years working for Fiserv (and its various
preceding companies). Carol enjoyed her work immensely, and her long and dedicated service to the company and co-workers culminated in her achieving the position of Vice President-IT, Fiserv Education, before her illness forced her to step back earlier this year.

As a dedicated employee, she accomplished much in her career; however, nothing meant more to her than her family. She loved being a mom; supporting and guiding her boys through their school activities, sporting events, and spiritual development. Through the years, Carol also enjoyed golf, reading, playing games, time at the lake, weekend getaways with her girlfriends,
and visiting with family and relatives. She also deeply valued her relationship with God, and enjoyed attending mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Churches.

Married to Timothy Swartz on April 25, 1992, the couple shared more than thirty years together, welcoming two sons into their lives. Carol's husband, Tim survives as do sons, Nicholas Swartz (fiance, Margaret Sheehy)  of Palatine, IL and Patrick Swartz of Novi, MI; siblings: Roy "R.J." Windler (wife, Nancy), Lori Windler, Diane Windler, Kenny Windler (wife, Diana) and Brad
Windler (wife, Renae). Carol was preceded in passing by her father, Howard Windler; mother-in-law, Peggy Swartz and nephew, Jamie Windler.

Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Carol's care. Visitation will be held at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 South Huntington Street, Syracuse on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 3 to 7 p.m. On Friday at 11 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 6941 East Waco Drive, Syracuse with Fr. Andrew
Nazareth officiating; the church will be open at 10 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Syracuse Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be the preferred expression of sympathy. Gifts may be given to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church (Syracuse, IN) or the Benton County Public Library (Fowler, IN). Written condolences may be left at www.TitusFuneralHome.com.
