Carol Long

Carol Long, was born on September 9, 1952, in Wolf Lake, Indiana, to Gerald and Virginia Jones Maggart. She passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, while living in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Plainfield. A graduate of Larwill Schools, she carried with her the knowledge and skills that served her both personally and professionally throughout her life.

Carol dedicated over 30 years of her life to a career at R.R. Donnelley, where she exemplified the values of hard work instilled in her from an early age. She then continued by working with Advanced Assembly until her retirement in 2017.

Known for her spirited personality, Carol had a deep-seated fondness for old Westerns and the music of the Sixties. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and grandchildren, keeping her heart full amidst life's challenges.

Carol leaves behind her daughters, Kimberly Long of Plainfield, Jessica (Tracy) Marshall of Warsaw, and Katharine Nixon of Warsaw. She was also a beloved grandmother to Cody (Jessica) Long, Richard (Audra) Long, Mark Long, Jerica (Wil) Long, Hannah Schultz and James Leiter. She was the proud great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Vicki Darr, Sharon Brase, and Kathy Derheimer.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Long, parents, Gerald Maggart and Virginia Jones Stout, as well as by her brothers, Gary Maggart and Dean Maggart.

Titus Funeral and Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, is entrusted with the care of Carol. Her Life Celebration Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 11am to 1pm; a graveside service will follow at Harrison Center Cemetery. Pastor Brian Smith will officiate.
