Betty Wertenberger

Betty Wertenberger, age 92, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on July 28, 2026 . She was born on August 3, 1933 to Walter and Eva (Galloway) Carrick in Cromwell, IN. Betty lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by kindness, an unwavering devotion to both her family and the world around her.

She was a proud graduate of Cromwell High School in the class of 1956. She married Abraham “Abe” Wertenberger on October 18, 1974. Her professional journey was diverse and impressive, as she worked at Sorges, Uniroyal, and R.R. Donnelly, before later taking on a part-time role at the Times-Union.

Betty’s passions extended well beyond her career. She had a true talent for transforming her home into a place of beauty and comfort. Landscaping gave her immense joy, and her love of hydrangeas was evident in the vibrant blooms that graced her yard each summer. Betty’s skills in the kitchen were equally renowned—her pecan pie and homemade fudge were legendary, enjoyed by all who had the privilege to taste them.

Holidays were especially memorable with Betty at the center. She took pride in decorating her house during Christmas, lovingly placing five beautifully adorned trees in her windows for all to admire. Neighbors and friends looked forward to the festive warmth emanating from her home, a testament to her thoughtful and generous spirit.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Abraham Wertenberger, who was her partner in life and her most ardent supporter. She also has a twin sister who survives Bonnie Weirick. She was also preceded in death by her precious cat Coco.

Betty Wertenberger’s legacy is painted with the joy she brought to those close to her, the beauty she cultivated in her surroundings, and the spirit of giving that defined her days. She leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Betty will be laid to rest at Sparta Cemetery in rural Cromwell. Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580.
