Betty Ann McFarren, age 91, of Winona Lake, passed away on March 7, 2026, at StoryPoint Nursing Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on August 12, 1934, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Jacob and Hazel (Hicks) Rockey. Betty Ann graduated from Warsaw High School in 1952. She married Robert McFarren on September 16, 1950, in Bluffton, Indiana, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
For 25 years, Betty Ann worked as a secretary at Litchfield Creamery. In addition to her professional work, she was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. She assisted with the family business, McFarren Lawn Service, and could often be found selling concessions at the race track, greeting friends and neighbors with her warm and welcoming personality.
Betty Ann was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. She especially cherished serving as a Sunday school teacher, sharing her love and devotion while helping guide younger generations.
She enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, including watching WCHS basketball games, Western television shows, and cheering on the Colts and Dallas Cowboys. Betty Ann also loved square dancing and participating in the Home Economics Club. She had a special place in her heart for cats and fed many of the outdoor neighborhood animals, which always brought her joy. A favorite weekly tradition was visiting Bob Evans, where she enjoyed good meals and familiar company almost every week since the restaurant first opened in the area.
Betty Ann will be remembered for her kindness, strong faith, and the love she shared with those around her. Her life was marked by dedication to her family, church, and community, and she leaves behind many cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.
Betty Ann is survived by her sons, Michael McFarren, and daughter-in-law, Adrienne McFarren; son, Alan McFarren, and daughter-in-law, Janet McFarren; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L McFarren, sister, Genevive Stafford, and her brother, Junior Rockey.
