Barbara Ann Sledge

January 10, 1945 — April 13, 2023

Barbee Lake

Barbara A. Sledge, known to many as “Barb,” a resident of Leesburg, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana at the age of 78. Born on January 10, 1945 in Auburn, IN, she was the daughter of Donald and Maxine (Scott) Wiley. On October 25, 1963, she married Douglas Sledge.

Kindhearted, Barb was greatly involved in her community. She was always ahead of the curve with breaking news and, alongside her sister, they lovingly earned the nickname “Snoop Sisters.” She connected with and supported her neighborhood through her creation and leadership of the Barbee Lake’s Neighborhood Watch Facebook Group. When her daughter was young, she was active in the PTO at the North Webster Elementary School. Barb was a great supporter of the March of Dimes and other charities, especially if they supported the youth and kept money locally. She also liked to dance and, in her younger years helped her family to run their dance hall.

Married to Douglas Sledge on October 25, 1963, Barb will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years. In addition she will be missed by daughter, Crystal (Chris) Bake of Rochester; grandchildren, Angel (fiancé Jonathan Wiesinger) Howe of Mishawaka and Christopher Bake of Rochester; step granddaughter Gabby Snyder of Rochester; great-granddaughter, Jade Wiesinger; sister, Victoria (Jeff) Shepherd of Barbee Lakes; and brothers, William (Sheila) Wiley of Victoria, TX and Scott (Deb) Wiley of Tippecanoe Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Sharon Rowe and Donald Wiley Jr.
