Anna Pernod, age 86, of Winona Lake, passed away at Lutheran Hospital on August 21, 2026. She was born on May 5, 1940 to Earl and Theresia Dawalt in Van Buren, Indiana. She married Charles Pernod on July 10, 1965.
She graduated from Bennett High School in Marion, Indiana, as a member of the Class of 1958. Anna dedicated much of her life to being a stay-at-home mother. Beyond her role at home, she found fulfillment in the art of sewing, skillfully working as a seamstress and sharing the fruits of her labor with those around her.
Faith was the cornerstone of Anna’s life. As an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, her strong Catholic faith was apparent in her daily living and the gentle way she moved through the world. She enjoyed attending Mass, found fellowship in going to bingo with friends, and always appreciated the comfort of a good card game.
Anna’s curiosity and joy for life were evident in the small pleasures she cherished. She could often be found engrossed in the adventures of the Harry Potter books, delighting in the challenges of the Game Show Network, or spending afternoons watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price is Right.” Her nimble hands found joy and solace in the meditative arts of ceramics and knitting, creating beauty and warmth for those she loved.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa (Ben) Stage of Claypool, Laura (Jess) Brito of Pierceton, Susan (Dion) Spears of Duncan, OK, Janet (Vince) Groninger of Ulman, MO; along with 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister Dona Dawalt of Warsaw. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles who passed in 2002, one grandson, her parents, and siblings Wayne, Thomas and Mary Dawalt.
A visitation for Anna will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw, Indiana. A Mass celebrating her life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 North Harrison Street, Warsaw, Indiana. Burial will follow to Oakwood Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Anna may be given to the Sacred Heart Building Fund.
