Alvin Duane Rockhill, of Mentone, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne at the age of 86. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Bourbon, the son of Glenn and Iloe Rockhill (Vining).
After graduating from Etna Green High School, Alvin built a successful career, spending many years at Dalton Foundry before serving as superintendent for CMI in Bristol. His work ethic and leadership earned him the respect of those around him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Alvin was passionate about motorcycles, proudly riding with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association since 1987. His love of nature extended to horses and horseback riding, as well as hunting, notably enjoying trips to Canada. Fishing trips with his sons and grandchildren created memories that reflected his love for family and the outdoors alike.
Alvin’s true pride and joy was his family. Married to Virginia Haywood for 54 loving years, together they raised a large and close-knit family. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Tony (Sara) Koser of Warsaw, Ray Rockhill of Warsaw, Chuck (Terry) Rockhill of Warsaw, Kenny (Kelly) Koser of Akron, Brian (Donna) Koser of Terryville, CT, Sabrina (Joe) Phillips of Warsaw, and Cassie (Brian) Riegsecker of Port St. Lucie, FL. Alvin was a proud grandfather to sixteen grandchildren and cherished great-grandfather to nineteen great-grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is also survived by siblings Sharon Tyler and Robert Rockhill. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, granddaughter Hannah Koser, great-grandson Bohdi Carlin, and sisters, Shirley Younce and Donnabelle Thomas.
