Chris Bidwell, 84 and a resident of Pierceton for the past fifty-five years, passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 4:05 p.m at Paddock Springs Health Care where she’d lived for the past nine months.

Born on November 20, 1935 in Atwood, IN, she was the daughter of Arnold B. and Wilma J. (Huffman) Chrisenberry. She was a 1953 graduate of Atwood High School and went on to become an airline stewardess for Delta Airlines at age 21. She later returned to Atwood and was married to William Keith Bidwell on August 30, 1958. The two were married for 37 years before Keith passed on May 15, 1995.

Professionally, Chris worked for First National Bank and Joe Mater Collections before earning a position as Vice President of Helvey & Associates where she retired in 1997.

Chris loved traveling with her husband and their sons. They enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and, later in life, she enjoyed traveling with extended family, too. She was able to visit all 50 states and England, enjoying many fun, memorable trips and cruises. Chris enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, golfing and always liked to be “on the go.” She belonged to many groups in the Warsaw area and was active in many community projects throughout her life. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, the Beaman Home, Pierceton Days Festival where she was a judge and as a poll worker on Election Day. She was a longtime member or Pierceton Presbyterian Church and served in many roles there.

In addition to her husband, Keith, those who preceded in passing include her close friend, Dr. Paul Grossnickle; her parents and her brothers, Gerald and Danny Chrisenberry. Those who survive include her sons, Bryan (Pam) Bidwell of Pierceton and Steve (Sherri) Bidwell of Muncie; five grandchildren: Krista (Bryan) Howard, Matt (Jacky) Tracy, Heather (Kevin) Potter, Michael (Lindsey) Bidwell and Emily (Seth) Christoffel; six great-grandchildren: Deegan, Claire, Carissa, Dawsyn, Carmen and Cohen and her sister, Vivian Owens. She also has many nieces and nephews who adored her visits.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home of 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Friends may join family for a time of visitation on Saturday, May 16th beginning at 10 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11 o’clock with burial following in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the Beaman Home, PO Box 12 Warsaw, IN 46581, or to the American Red Cross, 1212 E. California Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Condolences may be left for the family at

We are so saddened to hear about Chris' passing. We became friends with her when she was at Millers. We loved going out to eat with her and Paul, and, no matter how full we were, we always went for ice cream at Ritter's afterward! We always enjoyed visiting with her...she was such a fun, gracious, happy person. RIP Chris....we'll miss your twinkling eyes, gorgeous smile, and interesting visits. May God bless her...our sincere condolences to her family.

Chris was my mentor and very dear friend of over 40 years. She was my boss for almost twenty years, mentoring and supporting me in my position and eventually training me to succeed her when she retired. Chris was one of the most influential people in my life, always positive, caring and loyal. She was a go-getter, a goal setter and being a very determined woman, usually succeeded in accomplishing her goals. I know I speak for many employees and former employees of Helvey & Associates when I say she made a positive impact in so many lives. I wasn't able to visit with her often these last few years but when I did we always started up right where we left off. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to show me the latest pictures when I visited. Chris was a special person to many people and will not be forgotten, especially by me. Living now in Arizona, I could not be there for her life celebration but know that I celebrate her in my heart with all of you there.

I met Chris Bidwell out at Millers in June of 2018. She was in the rehab hall when my husband, Charlie Ker, was in rehab after a broken hip. I was so impressed by this lady who was surrounded by the love of everyone who knew her, especially Paul Grossnickle. I visited Millers almost everyday, and Chris wanted me to take her outside when I would take Charlie outside. I think they allowed me to do that if I promised we would just sit on the benches outside. She told me her goal was to return to her assisted living apartment. The thing I will always remember about Chris was her beauty, inside and outside. Her hair was always perfect and she told me how she and Paul got to be friends in assisted living. My husband was moved to the healthcare wing and Chris was there for me when I visited. I looked into a move to Paddock Springs, but he missed the opening. After Charlie passed, Chris sent me a sympathy card right away which meant so much. This pandemic has prevented visits to nursing homes, so I can't imagine what your family has endured. I watched the picture video and Chris has flown away to Heaven. Sincere Sympathy to Chris's family for your loss, it is the hardest part of life. I am typing this during her service, remembering, Connie Ker

Chris was such a sweet lady. She was positive, had a great sense of humor and was a very caring person. I remember when I was growing up, my mom and I would go out for breakfast at Maria's with her during the summertime. I have many memories as a kid going to her barn and climbing on the haystacks and visiting her cats. She also taught me how to withdrawal money from the bank. Our family always cherished her company and friendship. My condolences, I am sending prayers for your family in these grieving times.
