Print
Shirley Ann Porter, age 79, was called Home by her Lord just before 6 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018. A patient of Warsaw Meadows Care Center at the time, she was surrounded with love from her family.

Shirley was born in Somerset, KY on January 31, 1939. She was the daughter of Hollis and Vida (Ellis) Lay. On April 1, 1955, she was married to Elige “Ray” Porter. The pair shared sixty years before his May 2015 passing.

Shirley worked for Serenade Foods and in orthopaedics for Othy and later in production for Zimmer. She was an outgoing, friendly person who never knew a stranger. She was always whistling and singing and was crafty, making each of her family’s birthday cards by hand. A Christian woman of strong faith, Shirley attended Full Gospel Tabernacle in Claypool.

Surviving are eight children – daughters: Cindi (Marty) Justice of Winona Lake, Bonnie Shepherd of Claypool, Pam Engle of Sidney, Donna Porter of Marshall, Ill., and Margaret Parker of Bath, OH; sons: Mitch (Barb) Porter of Ardmore, OK, Gregg (Holly) Porter of Columbia City and Tim (Jenny) Porter of Warsaw; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Janice (Leonard) Avera of Somerset, KY. In addition to her husband, Ray, Shirley was preceded in death by son, Paul Porter; parents, Hollis and Vida; brother, Lloyd Lay and sister, Margaret Croley.

Friends may join family for visitation on Monday, November 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dean Ealey of the Early Apostolic Bible Training Center, will take place on Tuesday in the Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with committal in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
