Obituary for Lola Vires (Waddle)

Lola Vires, known to many as “Mary Lou” and to some as “Mary,” passed away quietly at 8:12p.m. on Friday, October 19th in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital. She was 75 years old.

Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on November 8, 1942, she was the daughter of Willy and Alta (Miller) Waddle. She spent much of her adult life in Warsaw, however.

Mary Lou held several jobs locally including processing at Creighton Brothers and Jomac Glove. She worked as a waitress at the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Ponderosa in addition to time spent with Holiday Inn, and managing Royal Six and Sunrise hotels, and in housekeeping at Mason Healthcare.

She was a kind, giving person who never knew a stranger. She was selfless, often giving of herself to help others and was known for her hard work ethic. Throughout her life she often worked two jobs, always walking to get to work. In her down time, she enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Young & Restless, and Golden Girls. Even when she was ill, she maintained a good sense of humor and was always willing to joke and laugh. Above all, she was a grandmother and mother who loved her family deeply.

A list of those who survive includes son, George Vires; daughter, Ginger Bays (husband, Jason); three grandchildren: Brittany Huston, Mycroft Bays and Conner Bays and sister, Lois Waddle – all of Warsaw. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including two with whom she was very close: Rod Waddle and Tina Conley. Preceding her in death were husband, Daniel Vires; brother, Otto Burchett and her parents.

Friends will gather at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 10 a.m to Noon on Thursday, October 25th. Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher, chaplain of Mason Healthcare, will officiate a funeral beginning at Noon with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to assist the family with final expenses; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at
